My VI Peel Experience

Hi there, my name is Bethany and I’ve been working at Laser for Less for the past year and a few months as a medical aesthetician and certified laser technician! I love my job and truly love making people feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin. With that being said, I’d thought I’d give you an inside peek into my own skin journey!

Around October 2016 I started experiencing some light hormonal breakouts. It wasn’t anything extreme… but it was extremely annoying! By November, I had gone into a full blown acne crisis. I was breaking out all over my cheeks, chin, jawline, neck, chest, shoulders and back. I’ve always enjoyed wearing makeup, but I was at the point where I was caking concealer all over my face. So with my pores being clogged and my hormones being all whacked out, my outer appearance was a mess. I finally decided to set a goal for myself and that was to be able to come to work/leave the house without having to put any makeup on! I thought it was a stretch… but it wasn’t! It’s now September 2017 and I can now come to work almost every day with nothing on my face, except for SPF and a little brow pencil. 😉

I’m sure you’re wondering what miracle products I used to accomplish this goal. Well luckily for you, we have the product in our salon! The VI Peel CHANGED MY LIFE… as well as changing up my diet, home care products and getting on a medication to stabilize my hormones.

On November 18, after getting my breakouts somewhat under control, I decided to try the VI Peel. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it and I was really excited to see what it could do for my skin!

The initial treatment wasn’t bad. The peel goes on in a series of 4 layers. The first layer definitely tingled and burned the worst, it was totally bearable. Once the lidocaine mixture kicked in, the remaining layers were pretty painless. The treatment takes less than 30 minutes, but then you have to leave the peel on your skin for at least the next 4 hours. At your appointment you’re given an at-home kit that consists of facial cleanser, pre-moistened peel pads, SPF 50, and hydrocortisone cream. After 4 hours I applied the first pre-moistened peel pad. At this point, my skin was feeling pretty tight. Before bed I cleansed my face with the VI facial cleanser, applied my second pre-moistened peel pad, some hydrocortisone, and then went to bed! The second day my skin was feeling tight and dry. I applied hydrocortisone and spf any time I started to feel TOO dry. By the end of the second night, I was starting to peel around my mouth. Once the peeling starts, there is NO stopping it.

With the VI Peel, you can except heavy peeling day 3-7. For some people, like myself, you could start peeling on day 2. This type of peeling you want to avoid picking and pulling! Give your skin a week, let it peel, let it do it’s thing. I carried around a small pair of manicure scissors and Aquaphor and any time I had larger pieces of skin hanging (so gross, lol) I’d clip the skin and apply Aquaphor. Keeping your skin hydrated and committing to staying out of the sun is KEY to getting successful results. One other thing that I had to keep reminding myself of was to not worry about other people staring at my skin! Let them stare… Your skin will be GLOWING, so it’s a winning situation for you!

These are all photos from days 3 through 6. By day 7, the peeling on my lower face was mostly gone. I still had some slight flaking happening on my forehead, but unfortunately did not have a picture of that to show you. About a week after my peeling had ended, I was feeling BEYOND confident with how my skin was looking! It wasn’t perfect, there were still some acne scars left behind, but I finally felt more comfortable about not caking makeup on my face. The photo below is taken completely makeup free (minus filling in my brows), but COME ON!

Since November, I have done two microneedling sessions (December 2016 & February 2017) and did one more VI Peel in January 2017. I can absolutely tell a difference with my overall skin health. I have stopped using foundation completely and I’ve been able to totally switch up my makeup routine. As a base, I now only use a tinted SPF and some under eye concealer on days where I’m feeling a little extra tired. The photos don’t lie, this peel is AMAZING. As summer comes to an end and fall is just beginning, this is the perfect time to heavily peel your skin. It’s great for targeting sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, post acne scarring… everything! We recommend doing a VI Peel 2-4 times per year, or with every season change. I promise, you will not regret making your skin a priority. If you have any questions or would like to schedule your next peel, please give our office a call! 480-905-3080
